A Centurion's Journey Cover

ACJ INSPIRATION

Imagine the impact on Centurion Julius Vagus when he was forced to guard Paul, the apostle of Jesus Christ. Several years ago, during the study of Paul in the Book of Acts our Lord placed upon my heart the idea that Paul’s arrest and deportation from Judea to Rome must have had a tremendous impact on the centurion that guarded him. In Acts 27, Luke gave the centurion’s name as Julius. For continuity of storyline, I included Julius from saving Paul from the temple mob in Jerusalem all the way to Rome. The centurion is not only on a journey to Rome but also on a personal journey to restoration with his family and finding a faith he didn’t know he needed. Follow them as they fulfill God’s purposes in their lives.

Background

Paul, led by the Holy Spirit, felt driven to return to Judea accompanied by Luke, who chronicled their adventures, along with fellow believers in the Lord Jesus Christ carrying alms for the early church under persecution. Julius, a Roman centurion based in Jerusalem had no idea the impact his encounter with one of Jesus’s apostles would have on his life. As their journey unfolds their two lives merge in a way that left Julius redefining his future. We all have an opportunity to make the same journey to faith that was offered to Julius.
